Hollie Costello is the vice president of Marketing and Public Relations for Make-A-Wish Arizona, the local chapter of the international wish granting organization. She loves that her role enables her to merge storytelling and fundraising to show supporters the true value of their gifts, while also introducing the impact of a wish to new donors, volunteers and even potential wish kids.
In the past 20 years, Hollie has worked for non-profit organizations and for-profit companies in marketing, communications and public relations while also volunteering her time and energies with IABC Phoenix, Tempe Leadership and Make-A-Wish, too!
Hollie served on the IABC Phoenix board from 2003 to 2008 and again from 2015to 2019, serving as IABC Phoenix president for the 2017-2018 term.
Three Questions
If you could learn one new professional skill, what would it be?
I would love to be better at statistics and data analysis. I am a BIG right-brain thinker and it would be nice to learn how to be a left-brained thinker as well!
Why are you a member of IABC Phoenix?
I continue my membership in IABC Phoenix because I love how it helped to shape me as a communicator when I first started, and how it allows me to grow through new relationships with experts around the Valley. It is definitely about the people for me – making great connections with top marketing, communication and public relation leaders that I know will offer me insight or opinions whenever I ask.
If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?
I would go to England 1) because it would be an easy transition (I speak the language) and 2) because it would be an easy jumping off point for adventures all over Europe like weekends in Paris, wine tours in Italy or vacations on the beaches of Croatia.
