The Arizona Game and Fish Department is seeking a social media/digital content specialist to help increase our engagement with customers/constituents and help develop social media strategy to promote wildlife conservation, fishing, hunting, wildlife viewing, boating and OHV recreation opportunities in Arizona. The Department has many stories to tell, and we’re looking for a digital storyteller to convey the fascinating aspects of wildlife conservation and outdoor recreation to our followers on social media.

In collaboration with the Information Branch Chief, Public Information Officers and other agency staff, the Social Media/Digital Content Specialist will be responsible for: writing, editing, and posting content to the Department’s social media channels; auditing the Department’s utilization of existing social media channels and making recommendations for improvement; maintaining an overall social media editorial calendar; assisting in the development and implementation of a social media strategy; assisting in monitoring for questions and comments by the public and responding as appropriate; and analyzing social/digital media data and providing reports on analytics. This position will stay current on new or developing social media tools and will make recommendations on new tools or management platforms for the Department. This position may provide backup support to the Department’s Web Content Manager for the Department’s website and Intranet. The position may also write communications such as news releases and e-news blasts, and respond to customer questions and inquiries from the media when appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned.

The candidate will have: knowledge in/of social media best practices, trends, and how to build a social media strategy; the skill to work with most popular social media tools; the ability to use different analytical tools to measure effectiveness of social media communications; the ability to use automation tools to schedule social media posts; and, basic familiarity with web content management systems (preferably WordPress) and blogging. Candidates must have strong written, oral and listening skills; customer service skills; and the ability to work effectively as a team member. Experience in e-mail marketing systems such as Constant Contact or Robly would be a plus.

The preferred candidate will have at least 1-2 years social media experience in a professional setting. Position requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
