Delta Dental of Arizona, the state’s #1 dental insurance provider, is looking for a professional, self-motivated, enthusiastic individual with strong marketing, writing and visual communication skills to work in our corporate headquarters in Glendale. Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Manager, and working closely with internal clients across the organization, the Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for developing effective marketing/communications collateral that informs, educates, promotes, and sells Delta Dental of Arizona’s products. Qualified candidates will be adept at conducting research and/or interviewing subject matter experts to write high-quality internal and external communications in plain language that all audiences (brokers, employers, members, dentists and consumers) can understand. Secondary responsibilities may include public relations, project management, digital marketing, web analytics and event planning. This position also requires the ability to manage multiple projects effectively, the ability to communicate internally and externally clearly and concisely, and the timely ability to support the needs of internal clients.

Essential Functions - Develop and write marketing/communications collateral for print and digital distribution, including emails, newsletters, brochures, PowerPoint presentations, white papers and websites. - Develop and write web content in accordance with best practices and search engine optimization techniques. - Contribute relevant and informational content to the Delta Dental of Arizona blog. - Manage direct mailings and electronic communications to key stakeholders, including dentists, employer groups, brokers, consumers, enrollees, prospects, DDAZ employees, etc. - Collaborate with internal departments to translate product and service offerings into accurate features and benefits messaging. - Ensure messaging is consistent, on-brand and communicates the value-proposition. - Maintain a working knowledge of DDAZ product offerings, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of oral health and dental insurance industry trends and news. - Uphold branding and style guidelines in all DDAZ communications to remain compliant with Delta Dental Plans Association standards. Secondary Functions - Quantitatively measure and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing/communications activities and campaigns, recommending and implementing data-driven optimizations. - Provide best practice guidance and direction on graphic design and layout of digital and print collateral, such as emails, newsletters, brochures, website, social media graphics, etc. - Manage the production and coordination of marketing and communications deliverables with various vendors, ensuring marketing/communications projects are delivered timely. - Assist in developing public relations opportunities and assist in the execution of those opportunities and programs. - Assist with planning, coordination and execution of DDAZ community and professional events. - Perform and complete other marketing and communications related responsibilities and projects as assigned.

- Experience with Google Analytics, Content Management Systems, and email platforms such as Constant Contact, Sales Force, etc. is a definite plus. - Knowledge and proficiency with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ and Pinterest is also a plus. - While not required, experience with graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign is a differentiator.

- A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field is required. - 2-4 years of marketing or communications experience in a business setting is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with experience writing for the healthcare, dental or insurance industries. - Strong writing and copy-editing skills in addition to excellent organizational and time management skills. - Must be able to work in a team environment across multiple departments and effectively complete projects. - Proficiency in a PC computer environment using the Microsoft Office suite.
