The University Information Technology Services (UITS) Manager, Communications and Marketing will fill a key role within the department’s small communications and marketing team. Reporting to the Director, Communications and Marketing, the Manager is responsible for implementing a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy to advance the strategic goals and priorities of UITS. Responsibilities focus on, but are not limited to, internal and external communications, marketing, branding, social media, digital marketing, graphic design, and special events. This role will liaise with senior management, university resources, operations, UA Marketing and Communications, and other campus entities to create and effectively manage communications and marketing initiatives that will increase understanding and awareness of UITS and its services, projects and campus initiatives. The Manager will be a multidisciplinary communications professional, marketing savvy, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience with digital and social media platforms, a creative approach, and an interest in advancing change.

Supervise activities of subordinate personnel. Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to increase awareness of UITS and its services among the campus community. Write and distribute internal and external communications including, but not limited to: leadership announcements, project and service updates, executive and management messages, and general news. Ensure the efficient and effective development of all print and digital communications, including materials generated in-house as well as collateral material produced with outside vendors, such as newsletters, annual reports, videos, brochures, websites, etc. Create, organize, and manage social media strategy and presence for UITS, including updating content, recruiting new followers, and establishing best practices to ensure UITS social networks provide a venue for quality engagement. Support day-to-day oversight of the UA IT website to ensure content relevance and currency. Monitor and analyze website, email marketing and social media analytics to update communications and marketing strategies and recommend and/or take appropriate action. Maintain and promote a consistent brand identity for UITS that aligns with the University’s branding initiatives, graphics standards and style guides. Coordinate and provide marketing and communications support to multiple and diverse service units across UITS. Work closely with UITS IT project managers to support communications needs for major campus projects. Manage budget, marketing, logistics and program development for special events (i.e. annual IT Summit, etc.). Other duties as assigned.

Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), MailChimp (or similar), and Drupal (or similar web content management system). Experience with event planning/management and soliciting sponsorship. Knowledge of information technology industry. Previous professional experience in a university setting.

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or comparable communications field from an accredited university or college. Three to five years of professional experience in a communications-related role in the development of comprehensive communications/marketing plans. Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills (portfolio will be required). Knowledge of traditional communications and marketing disciplines as well as new trends in social media, digital, and event marketing. Experience with multimedia (photo/video), graphic design, and social networking platforms. Effectively present technical information to non-technical audiences. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills. Proficient with MS Office Suite 2016.
