Serving on the Marketing/Communications Team, the Council Communications Project Manager is responsible for producing a variety of on-brand, quality communications, and other content that supports Girl Scouts–Arizona Cactus-Pine Council objectives and the engagement and retention of its members. Essential to all member communications efforts and special events, the position requires a dynamic self-starter with strong project management and writing and editing experience across all communication mediums. Reports to: Director, Marketing/Communications FLSA Status: Regular full-time, exempt

• Support the MarCom team’s brand management and strategic communications responsibilities on behalf of the Council. Work closely with Marcom team members to ensure all communications across functions, audiences, and campaigns are effective and delivered in consistent voice, messaging, brand. o Consistently maintain Girl Scouts brand voice as outlined in GSUSA brand strategy and guidelines. Express the Girl Scout personality across Council channels and be kind, firm and level-headed. o Partner with Creative to align brand voice and visuals throughout all communications. o Proactively stay informed of and leverage GSUSA plans, assets, and resources. Utilize internal gsConnect system and participate and follow up on assigned webinars and trainings. o Stay up-to-date with new technologies, communications and media industry topics and trends. Share learnings and innovations and test new ideas, strategies, channels, etc. • Coordinate all aspects of projects – Planning, writing, editing, creative briefing and development, review and approval, and ensuring deployment and evaluation. o Collaborate and plan with stakeholders. Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, ensuring technical feasibility and resource availability and allocation. o Develop project plans and documentation to monitor and track progress. Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor and summarize progress. Prepare reports regarding status of projects. o Manage internal and external relationships and changes to project scopes and timing. • Develop and implement effective and engaging member-focused and general council communications that appeal to a highly diverse constituency and demographic. o Research, write, proofread, and publish online content, as well as fact-checking and optimizing to increase user engagement. o Own important ongoing communications with input and alignment from the team, including but not limited to member emails and the triannual magazine. o Manage communications for member campaigns, and events, including but not limited to Annual Meeting, Spring Renewal, High Awards, Volunteer Appreciation. o Provide support on major external marketing campaigns as identified, primarily through messaging development, related member communications, events, and PR. • Support council’s online community. o Work with Creative on Council website maintenance through editing and adding site content, developing and managing the annual graphics and blog schedule, and learning the Adobe Experience Manager platform. o Contribute to a joint-planning and production process for social media. Provide strategic thinking, and ideas, and develop, schedule, publish, and optimize content on an ongoing basis and as requested by the social media community manager. o Social media monitoring, responding, and engaging across all social media channels. o Craft responses to inquiries received via shared work group emails and Salesforce CRM system. • Support traditional media relations as needed. o Monitor publications, web alerts, social media and vendor reports weekly for print, online and broadcast placements. Maintain coverage clips database. o Identify member stories appropriate to Council priorities, campaigns, news cycle, relativity, etc. o Review, edit or write news releases and other stories, editorials, blogs, contributed content as needed. o Support the council’s girl-spokesperson program as needed. Leverage stories, content, and skills of media girls and volunteers. o Train to serve as a Council spokesperson. • Teamwork/team spirit – support Marcom Team and its cross-functional planning and relationship building. o Hold individual responsibilities while continuously communicating, cooperating, and streamlining to support the team’s shared goal of effectively supporting Council-wide priorities and objectives. o Proactively communicate and fill knowledge gaps among a small team that requires a high level of efficiency to be successful. o Maintain and adhere to production calendars, and ensure tasks are completed on time and in budget. o Develop new and efficient ways to collect and leverage user-generated, member stories and content. Support and leverage Marcom’s existing media group of girls and volunteers. o Ensure cross-promotion and follow-through on all Council-owned communication channels / online conversations and participating in two-way customer conversations. o Monitoring, measurement, and reporting - work with team to analyze, develop learning and improvements, and report back to internal and external stakeholders. o Attend weekly and monthly team meetings and collaborate with team and other staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications overall. o Coordinate recurring cross-functional meetings. Develop agendas, take notes, and report out. Identify next steps/action items and ensure follow-through. o Informal leadership, peer coaching, and mentorship within and out of team.

• Fluency in Spanish and English preferred. • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the Girl Scout program. • Must be willing to learn and use the competencies essential to GSACPC’s theory of change models and learning organization culture. Willingness to fully participate in staff development opportunities. • Behavior consistent with the core competencies, core values, and beliefs of the organization. Physical Abilities • Able to lift 25+ lbs., sit at a computer for three consecutive hours, stand for 2+ hours/day, climb stairs daily. • Able to work evenings and weekends, when necessary. • Valid AZ driver’s license.

Requirements and Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in business management, communications, journalism, marketing, or related field and 5+ years of communications and/or project management experience. AP Editing and project management certifications may be considered as part of experience. • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, strong grammar and proofing ability, familiar with AP style. Demonstrated ability to write, develop, produce clear, engaging content across print, digital, and visual mediums. Demonstrated ability to build plans, timelines, assign responsibilities, and monitor and summarize progress. Proficiency with project management software and planning tools, such as Freshdesk, Smartsheet, Microsoft Teams, etc., preferred. • Must be computer literate (working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and have solid experience with digital media: email, social media, websites and measurement tools. • Possess a firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space, with experience utilizing said channels in a business setting. Willing to support content development utilizing available online tools. • Hands-on experience with content management systems and email systems, preferably Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and Salesforce Marketing Cloud. • Experience with monitoring and measurement tools such as Google Analytics, Sprout Social, Meltwater, Cision, Hootsuite, BurrellesLuce preferred. • Experience with measurement, analyzing data and reporting/implementing learnings. Familiarity with SEO and keyword research. • Must be comfortable leading and directing the work of others horizontally without direct reports. • Perform other duties as assigned.
