We are seeking a versatile copy writer to produce content for a wide variety of print and digital publications, including websites, news articles, brochures, newsletters and more. You should also be a strong copy editor/proofreader who is meticulous about accuracy, spelling, grammar, and style. The Knowledge Enterprise supports and advances research, innovation, entrepreneurship, strategic partnerships, and international development at Arizona State University. Our collaborative creative team publicizes ASU discovery and innovation through text, videos, podcasts, photos, illustrations, and animations. We seek to engage, inform and delight audiences that include community leaders, partner organizations, funding agencies, donors, the ASU community and the general public. Essential Duties • Plan, develop and write copy for print and digital communications. • Edit and proofread content for clarity, accuracy and ASU style. • Participate in strategic planning and brainstorming for marketing projects and initiatives. • Collaborate with design, video, marketing, social media and web development teams in producing multimedia packages and multifaceted marketing campaigns. • Manage various editorial projects from concept to completion. • Conduct background research and interview faculty, students, project leads and other stakeholders to get the necessary information. • Update and maintain web content in Drupal CMS. • Stay abreast of ASU news, as well as trends in communications and marketing. • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications • Evidence of effective written and oral communication skills. • Experience in using editing and proofreading skills. • Experience interviewing experts to glean key information. • Experience in managing projects independently. • Experience in working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. • Experience in working collaboratively on a team and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. • Knowledge of AP style. • Knowledge of ASU style a plus. • Experience with Drupal content management system a plus.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, Education or a related field AND four (4) years of related work experience in the development of comprehensive and creative communication; OR Eight (8) years of related work experience; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved. Certificates from recognized programs that verify mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six (6) months of experience.
Working Environment • Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking. • Use office equipment including a desktop computer. • Lift up to 20 pounds. • Clearly communicate to perform essential duties. • Receive regular review of completed tasks.
