Exceptional ability to lead client growth initiatives though collaboration and project management will be the key for this Client Development Manager position. You will work closely with our lawyers to identify and facilitate revenue growth opportunities with other practice groups and geographies; support client relationship-building initiatives; and cultivate new business leads from existing clients or new prospects.
• Develop a deep understanding of practice groups and industry teams, including their services, expertise, clients, competitors, and cross-selling opportunities. • Collaborate with the client development team and other key stakeholders to develop, execute, and track various client development and cross-selling initiatives. • Collaborate with the events team to plan participation in conferences, sponsorships, seminars, speaking engagements, and events, including strategizing with and coaching attorneys for their participation at these events. • Collaborate with the marketing team to coordinate preparation and distribution of client alerts, blogs, social media posts, website content and P.R. exposure. • Collaborate with the proposal manager on the development of client pitches, proposals and RFPs. • Identify and develop relationship-building and attorney expertise awareness activities for attorneys, existing clients and targeted prospects. • Work with industry group attorneys to plan, facilitate and attend group meetings and expedite required follow-up with client development efforts. • Follow up with attorneys to track successes and capture (and help implement) best practices and lessons learned from prior pitches, conference attendance, client visits. • Counsel attorneys on their business development plans. • Prepare and coach attorneys for client meetings. • Develop and manage budgets for assigned groups/teams with a focus on ROI. • Perform other duties as assigned.
• Demonstrates effective, professional, client service driven interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing. • Ability to build cohesive working relationships with attorneys and advise on business development activities that produce profitable results. • Strong project management skills, with impeccable attention to detail. • Heavy use of spreadsheets and databases to track and aggregate data, generate reports and manage workflow. • Familiarity with and ability to quickly learn online and proprietary research and CRM tools. • Team player passionate about client service. Takes ownership of projects, knows how to fully utilize resources and consistently meets deadlines. Must be proactive, self-directed, and able to multi-task effectively in a fast paced and complex environment. • Willing and able to “roll up the sleeves” and handle any aspect (from administrative to supervisory) of marketing and business development tasks as needed. • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher). • Flexibility to travel and adjust hours as needed to meet operating and business needs.
• A minimum of 5-7 years business development, sales or related experience required. • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or closely related preferred. • Previous experience working in legal, accounting, consulting or similar professional services industry preferred.
