IABC Phoenix member Jean Christofferson has worked in communications, marketing and public relations for nonprofit organizations for the last 25 years.
As director of marketing and communications, Jean develops marketing strategies and executes communications plans to increase donations and build awareness for Catholic Charities Community Services (CCCS). CCCS is a nonprofit headquartered in Phoenix that serves the most vulnerable populations, including veterans, foster children and families, the homeless, victims of domestic violence and more, throughout seven counties in central and northern Arizona.
Earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri – Columbia, Jean also recently completed a master’s degree in leadership from Grand Canyon University.
“I moved from rural, southern Illinois to Phoenix when I was 26 for a job with no connections, friends or family awaiting me here,” Jean said. “I was able to build a wonderful career and start a family here and have never regretted starting over.”
Jean has been married for nearly 25 years and has two sons in college. She was involved on the IABC Phoenix board in the past and hopes to get more involved in the Southern Region in the future.
Three questions for Jean
If you could learn one new professional skill, what would it be?
Supply chain management – with the issues we are having in the current pandemic environment, it seems like more people should be working on solutions!
What are your hobbies/outside work interests?
I have a lifelong love for rescuing dogs and working to rehabilitate them and show them love and compassion through Saving Paws Rescue in Glendale. I volunteer every week and work with the dogs on training, exercise, tending to their medical needs and cleaning the facility. I have three dogs at home, so much of my time outside work involves time with dogs.
You have your own late night talk show, who do you invite as your first guest?
My grandfather who passed away before my mom and dad were even married. I never got to meet him. He was a happy-go-lucky Irish guy who my family members say I take after.
