Loren Yaskin ABC
Loren Yaskin is the founder of The Flip Side Communications, LLC which specialize in video production, employee communications, public relations and media training. She was an internal communications consultant at The Vanguard Group and an employee communications manager at PetSmart. At Edelman Public Relations Worldwide, Loren created and implemented national public relations programs for KFC, Honeywell, Snapple, and PetSmart. At Delta Dental Plan of Arizona, Loren chaired the Healthy Smiles Partnership, a public/private endeavor between Delta Dental, the Phoenix Coyotes, the City of Phoenix and the Department of Oral Health to raise awareness of oral health for kids, leading its public relations efforts in Arizona. Loren graduated from Northwestern University. In her free time, Loren enjoys spending time with her family, trying new recipes and making jewelry.
Hollie Costello serves as the Director of Public Relations and Marketing for Make-A-Wish® Arizona, the state chapter of the 501(c)(3) international wish granting organization, Make-A-Wish®. With more than 16 years of experience in marketing, public relations and journalism, she has worked in multiple industries including media, travel, technology and health care but she is happiest in her new role helping to grant wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. She previously served on the IABC Phoenix Board from 2005 to 2008 in the role of VP of Professional Development and Director of the Copper Quills awards. A journalism major from University of Arizona, she is a proud Wildcat and even living in Tempe for the past 16 years cannot break her. In fact, she is a graduate of the Tempe Leadership program and acted as President of the Board of Directors for Tempe Leadership in 2014-2015, guiding a 24- person volunteer board in support of the adult and youth leadership programs. Outside of work, she loves to travel to see new places or head home to St. Louis to spend time with her family.
Kim Grozek West, MMC, is an award-winning communications leader with over 13 years of experience developing strategic communications programs for Fortune 500 companies Charles Schwab and Citigroup. Currently a senior communications manager with Charles Schwab, Kim leads change communications and consulting for Schwab’s global business transformation initiatives. With IABC, Kim has served in multiple board roles, including EVP, VP of Finance and Administration, VP of Community Involvement, VP of Internal Communications, VP of Special Events and Media Relations Director. She also volunteers with Junior Achievement and other nonprofits, teaching financial literacy to high school students and women in shelters. When not working or volunteering, Kim practices yoga, takes step aerobics classes (preferably to ‘80s music!), travels with her husband and searches high and low for unique home décor.
Beth McRae is the president of The McRae Agency with 20-plus years in the public relations, social media and marketing industries. Beth is a graduate of Valley Leadership and FBI Citizens Academy and was named a Trendsetter for lifetime achievement in civic and charitable contributions. She is a board member and communications chair for Charter 100 and on the boards of American Cancer Society (Phoenix) and Arizona Costume Institute. Beth earned a bachelor of science in journalism, with an emphasis in public relations and advertising, and a bachelor of arts degree in marketing from Texas Christian University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and Delta Sigma Pi. She received a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix.
Sarah Rockey is a skillful public relations and social media strategist with extensive knowledge of the trends, technology, and influencers needed for making connections across both the traditional and digital worlds. She has experience in an eclectic range of industries; from developing marketing campaigns for the performing arts and events industry, to building brands and bringing awareness to companies and products across B2B and B2C clients in a fast-paced agency environment. From there, she took her skills in-house, translating complex technology concepts into integrated digital strategies to drive recognition, relevance and resonance on a global scale. As IABC Phoenix’s VP of Digital Outreach, Sarah will be responsible for identifying and executing innovative ways to reach, engage, and connect Valley communicators. Sarah is an avid runner – from where all her bright ideas originate and which provides great training for chasing her toddler.
Shelley Nelson, MBA, brings more than 15 years of professional experience in strategic marketing planning, community involvement and marketing communications for nonprofits, small businesses and Fortune 500 companies. Her passion is seeing people experience a brighter future than they may have imagined. Shelley loves creating marketing and communications plans that bring new and established audiences closer to the organization’s mission. She uses the power of storytelling to drive awareness and response as well as double donations, move products and sell out events. In her free time, Shelley enjoys teaching in her role as Adjunct Faculty, serving as a Children’s Leader in Bible Study Fellowship, decorating and swimming.
Felicia N. Thompson, MBA, is Vice President of Communications for Better Business Bureau Serving Central, Northern and Western Arizona (BBB). Since joining BBB in 2004, Felicia serves as media spokesperson and leads the organization in all external communications and brand strategies. New to IABC in 2014, she drove right in and coordinated professional development luncheons in Phoenix and currently serves as V.P. of Membership. Felicia is a 2010 founding member of Vistage International’s key executive program and served proudly with the University of Arizona Alumni Association for years.
Maire Simington PhD, MBA
Maire Simington, PhD, MBA has worked in the Marketing and Communications field for more than 25 years. She is currently a senior communications strategist at Banner Health. She has been actively involved with IABC for many years and has served as the Chair of the IABC Research Foundation, as VP of Leadership Development for the Southern Region Board for IABC and as a board member of IABC/Phoenix. She is also actively involved in Arizona Healthcare Executives, having served as both the president of the board and as elected Regent to the national organization, American College of Healthcare Executives. She is currently involved on the program committee. Maire is also the immediate past chair of Arizona Humanities, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities and is on the national board for Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
