Nicollette is a Senior Media Manager at Cybba, where she strategizes, implements, and analyzes digital media campaigns, across various verticals including consumer packaged goods, higher education, and e-commerce. Nicollette has a Master’s degree from Syracuse University in Digital Advertising, and has been working in the media industry for over 5 years. Typically, you will find Nicollette with two coffees in hand.
Sarah Rockey is a skillful public relations and social media strategist with extensive knowledge of the trends, technology, and influencers needed for making connections across both the traditional and digital worlds. She has experience in an eclectic range of industries; from developing marketing campaigns for the performing arts and events industry, to building brands and bringing awareness to companies and products across B2B and B2C clients in a fast-paced agency environment. From there, she took her skills in-house, translating complex technology concepts into integrated digital strategies to drive recognition, relevance and resonance on a global scale. She is currently the corporate public relations and social media manager at ON Semiconductor, where she was recently honored with the 2016 Employee of the Year award. Her second year on the IABC Phoenix Board, Sarah will be responsible for identifying and executing innovative ways to reach, engage, and connect Valley communicators as well as be responsible for the organization’s digital presence. Sarah is an avid runner – from where all her bright ideas originate and which provides great training for chasing her toddler.
Keegan is the CEO of Megethos. At Megethos, Keegan oversees all implementation and optimization of paid media campaigns, across various verticals including SaaS, higher education, and e-commerce. In addition to over 5 years leading digital agencies and several years at tech start-ups, Keegan has a Master’s of Science from the University of Arizona in Management Information Systems with a focus in Business Intelligence. When he isn’t crushing it for his clients, he is likely drinking too much coffee, getting lost in data, and watching Netflix with his wife and chihuahuas.
Shelley Nelson, MBA, brings more than 15 years of professional experience in strategic marketing planning, community involvement and marketing communications for nonprofits, small businesses and Fortune 500 companies. Her passion is seeing people experience a brighter future than they may have imagined. Shelley loves creating marketing and communications plans that bring new and established audiences closer to the organization’s mission. She uses the power of storytelling to drive awareness and response as well as double donations, move products and sell out events. In her free time, Shelley enjoys teaching in her role as Adjunct Faculty, serving as a Children’s Leader in Bible Study Fellowship, decorating and swimming.
Curtis has been telling stories his entire life. With more than 35 years of experience in marketing, communications and strategy development in multiple industries, including insurance, pet health, finance, nonprofit, telecommunications and high tech, Curtis currently provides clients with executive marketing and communications strategy and counsel. Most recently vice president of communications at BIG YAM, the Parsons Agency, he led the agency’s communications and client activity, including personal communications support for GoDaddy founder Bob Parsons and his wife Renee Parsons. Previously vice president of communications and marketing for Nonprofits Insurance Alliance Group, Curtis led the Group’s communications and marketing outreach, including public relations, social media, marketing, event management and internal communications.
Prior to joining the Group, Curtis was director of Corporate Communications for Nationwide’s pet health division (formerly Veterinary Pet Insurance), the country’s oldest and largest provider of pet health insurance. He also served as the executive director of public relations for Riester, a Phoenix-based full-service integrated marketing agency. He held previous marketing and communications posts with Compaq Computers, AG Communication Systems (an AT&T/GTE joint venture), and AT&T corporate.
Curtis holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Northern Arizona University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. He is an Arizona native who has also worked in New York City, Dallas and Los Angeles. He is a previous board member of the Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications, as well as Equality Arizona.
Leslie Beckhoff has spent most of her 30 years in Public Relations navigating the world of communications in Corporate America. She spent 20 of those years with the DuPont Company in numerous roles including two years in the corporate media relations office and leading critical communications planning and execution in the worldwide Specialty Chemicals business. Working with manufacturing operations in the Northeast, she delivered internal communications and community outreach support with an emphasis in environmental and labor issues.
In addition, she did a short stint with The Dallas Morning News, and an agency in Dallas before becoming the Director of Media, Marketing and Promotions for the U.S. Olympic Committee’s local organizing committee for the U.S. Olympic Festival-’89 in Oklahoma City.
Leslie has a B.A. in Government and Economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
Cara LaBrie is a communications consultant primarily focused on writing, editing and content creation for publications and corporate clients. She’s guided universities, law firms and utilities, among other clients, in developing communications initiatives for internal and external audiences.
While the topics she’s covered are diverse, the constant in Cara’s career has been creating and managing high-quality, purposeful content. Cara started her career as a sports reporter at the Pioneer Press in St. Paul, Minnesota. She later returned home to Phoenix to manage specialty publications for the Arizona Republic. Her work at Mullen Public Relations focused on real estate and luxury homebuilding. As the Director of Communications at GoDaddy, Cara managed customer-facing support content, help and chat systems, and internal communications initiatives.
Cara has a bachelor’s degree in history and communication from Santa Clara University. She also has a master’s degree in administration from Northern Arizona University. She lives in Phoenix with her husband and Old English sheepdog.
Julia Wallace Smith is a writer and editor who enjoys turning complex, technical information into understandable and compelling information. Currently employed with DXC Technology, Julia works closely with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration to plan and develop communications and reference materials for Indiana Medicaid providers. Julia has worked in many industries, including healthcare, finance, commercial, and manufacturing. She has a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Mississippi and is certified as an Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) through the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). Julia enjoys traveling to new places and spending time with family, friends, and her two adopted dogs.
Jennifer currently works at Global Cynergies, a worldwide hotel and venue sourcing company. With 145 team members in 29 countries, she trains and assists every team member on platforms that the company utilizes. Along with this, she has clients that she helps source hotels for their events. After graduating college with a bachelor’s in communication, she discovered she has a passion for communication and went onto graduate school. She is currently getting her master’s in communication with a concentration in digital communication, and a concentration in public and media relations at Johns Hopkins University.
