Privacy Policies, Terms and GDPR: What Website Builders and Businesses Need to Know

In this workshop, we will cover:

    • Best practice techniques to make you website/app’s Terms and Conditions enforceable
    • What provisions generally need to be addressed in well drafted Terms and Conditions
    • Drafting a Privacy Policy that is specific to your company (and a discussion of the dangers of not drafting a company-specific privacy policy)
    • California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 which goes into effect Jan 1. 2020

Finally, we will discuss situations where American companies must comply with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”). We will describe the privacy principles underlying the GDPR, how to build those into your Company’s practices, describe the various legal basis you must be able to show before you attempt to process the date of someone in the European Union. We will discuss what individual rights you must allow individuals to exercise in connection with your processing of their data. Finally, we will provide an overview what to look for in vendor agreements with your data processors to make sure they are in compliance with the GDPR.
